How much does second-hand designer clothing cost? Prices and value for money

How much does branded second-hand clothing cost? Prices and value for money

How much does branded second-hand clothing cost? Well-known brands can be found for just a few dozen złoty at online second-hand stores. For example, in October 2026, a Zara dress cost PLN 48, a Calvin Klein dress PLN 74, and Diesel jeans PLN 89 at Bloomlo. That doesn’t mean every used item is automatically a bargain. The value of a purchase also depends on the garment’s condition, fabric, cut, measurements, and delivery cost.

A branded sweater for PLN 40, a dress for PLN 50, or a coat for PLN 100 – sounds tempting. But are you really saving? Or does the low price hide a fabric that will wear out quickly or a style you’ll never wear?

We’ll show you specific price examples in this guide, explain why second-hand clothing prices vary, and offer tips on how to tell a good bargain from a purchase that only seems cheap.

We don’t promise that second-hand will always be cheaper than every sale in a regular store. We want to help you make more informed choices.

Table of contents – jump to a topic

1. How much does clothing from well-known brands cost in a second-hand store?

There’s no single price list for second-hand clothing. Two dresses from the same brand can differ in price several times over because they vary in material, style, condition, and original product category.

To show actual prices, we looked at listings available on 31 October 2026 from Bloomlo.

Brand Example product Price
Zara Velour wrap dress PLN 48
Calvin Klein Long V-neck dress PLN 74
Ralph Lauren Navy blue openwork dress PLN 89
Diesel Black regular-fit jeans PLN 89
EVA & CLAUDI 100% wool cardigan PLN 89
H&M Sequin mini dress PLN 48

Recognizable brands can clearly be found at affordable prices. However, the price tag alone isn’t enough to assess quality. It’s worth looking at each item individually.

Browse the current selection in the second-hand dresses, women’s sweaters, and denim clothing categories.

2. What determines the price of second-hand clothing?

The price of second-hand branded clothing doesn’t depend solely on the manufacturer’s name. Several factors matter when assessing it.

Condition

A garment with no visible damage may cost more than a similar style with worn areas, missing buttons, or noticeable pilling. A minor flaw doesn’t have to rule out a purchase, but it should be taken into account when deciding.

Material composition

A sweater made from 100% wool may have a different practical value than one made mostly of acrylic. Cotton, linen, silk, and viscose have different properties and care requirements. Natural fibers alone don’t guarantee high quality.

The brand and specific product line

A well-known brand may attract more interest, but its products aren’t all the same. The collection, workmanship, fabric type, and the garment’s actual condition all matter.

Style popularity and season

Winter coats and wool sweaters may be more popular in autumn, while lightweight dresses are in demand in spring and summer. However, this doesn’t mean the prices of all such items automatically go up.

Sales service costs

When shopping online, the price must also cover business costs: sourcing stock, storage, preparing descriptions and photos, fulfilling orders, and customer service.

That’s why comparing only the price of a second-hand item with the lowest price you can find online can lead to misleading conclusions.

3. Does branded clothing always mean better quality?

No. A recognizable logo doesn’t guarantee durability, good materials, or careful workmanship. Within a single brand, you can find both very well-made styles and products of average quality.

If you’re choosing between two sweaters, check:

  • the knit’s composition and thickness,
  • the fabric’s surface condition and degree of pilling,
  • the seams and cuff finish,
  • any stretching or shrinkage,
  • the cost and difficulty of caring for it later.

For example, a cheaper sweater may turn out to be a better buy than a more expensive one if it’s in good condition, made from the right materials, and suits your wardrobe.

It’s also worth remembering that branded clothing can be counterfeit. For more expensive items, check the details of the workmanship and authenticity information instead of relying only on the visible label.

4. Are second-hand clothes really cheaper than new ones?

Often, but not always. To calculate savings fairly, you need to compare items that are as similar as possible, not just any second-hand product with a random new item from the same brand.

The best comparison should take into account:

  • the brand and specific style, or a very similar equivalent,
  • the fabric composition and quality of construction,
  • the condition of the second-hand item,
  • the current price of the new item, including any discounts,
  • shipping and any care costs.

How do you calculate the savings?

Let's assume, purely as an example, that a comparable new sweater costs PLN 200 and a second-hand one costs PLN 60.

The difference is PLN 140, or 70% of the new sweater's price. However, this is just a mathematical example, not a confirmed saving on a specific style.

If a second-hand sweater needs expensive cleaning or is damaged, the actual savings will be smaller. If the new style is on sale, the difference may also be smaller.

So the fairest thing to say is this: second-hand shopping can offer significant savings, but each bargain is worth assessing individually.

5. How much does buying second-hand clothing online really cost?

The price shown next to an item isn't always the final cost. Remember to include shipping, any transaction fees, necessary cleaning and the risk of getting the wrong size.

Let's consider two example baskets. These figures are illustrative and do not reflect current shipping rates from Bloomlo.

Item Basket A Basket B
Number of items 1 3
Value of the clothes PLN 45 PLN 135
Example shipping cost PLN 15 PLN 15
Total PLN 60 PLN 150
Cost per item PLN 60 PLN 50

Buying several items in one shipment can reduce the shipping cost per item. However, it's not worth adding unnecessary clothes just to get a better shipping rate.

W Bloomlo, current shipping costs are shown before you place your order. Free in-person pickup in Warsaw is also available. Check the available delivery and payment methods.

6. How to spot a real bargain in a second-hand shop?

The best bargain is an item you'll wear, that meets your needs, and whose condition justifies the price.

Ask yourself six questions before buying:

  1. Do I really need this item? A low price doesn't turn an unnecessary purchase into a saving.
  2. Is the fabric right for me? Check the composition, breathability, durability and care instructions.
  3. Is the condition appropriate for the price? Check the photos and description for any flaws.
  4. Will it fit? Compare the exact measurements with your own clothes.
  5. What will the total cost be? Include shipping and any cleaning.
  6. Will I wear this item many times? Durability and usefulness often matter more than the label itself.

Cost per wear - a simple way to shop smarter

A sweater bought for PLN 40 and worn 20 times costs an average of PLN 2 per wear. A PLN 100 sweater worn 100 times costs just PLN 1 per wear.

Of course, this is a simplified comparison that doesn’t account for care costs. But it shows an important principle: a more expensive garment may be better value if it really lasts you longer.

If you’re concerned about getting the right fit, read our guide to measuring second-hand clothes.

7. When is buying second-hand branded clothing not worth it?

An honest guide to prices needs to answer this question too.

Buying may not make sense if:

  • the garment has serious damage that would cost more to repair than the item itself,
  • the material requires specialist cleaning that you don’t want to pay for,
  • the size is clearly not right for you,
  • the price is close to that of a similar new item on sale,
  • you’re buying it just because of the well-known brand, even though you don’t like the style,
  • you can’t reliably verify whether an expensive item is authentic.

It’s also worth keeping shipping costs in mind when buying very cheap clothes. A single item priced at PLN 20 could end up costing much more.

If an item has a minor flaw that’s easy to fix and you’re happy with the price, buying it may still be a sensible choice. The most important thing is to know what you’re buying.

8. How to shop for branded clothes wisely at Bloomlo?

W Bloomlo, we’ve been selling second-hand clothing since the 1990s. W our online store, you’ll find individual items from various brands at a range of prices.

When choosing a product, it’s worth looking beyond the brand and price to the photos, description, measurements, fabric composition – if provided – and any signs of wear.

Many great purchases start with a simple question: will this item work in my everyday wardrobe?

Not every branded dress will be better than a cheaper one, not every wool sweater will be easy to care for, and the cheapest jacket isn’t necessarily the best value.

If you’re unsure about a product’s size or condition, it’s worth clearing up any questions before you buy.

9. FAQ – Frequently asked questions about second-hand clothing prices

How much does a branded dress cost at an online second-hand store?

The price depends on the brand, material, style and condition. W the selection at Bloomlo, checked in October 2026, an example Zara dress cost PLN 48, while a Calvin Klein dress cost PLN 74. Current prices may differ.

Are second-hand branded clothes much cheaper than new ones?

Sometimes the difference is significant, but there’s no single universal savings percentage. Compare products that are as similar as possible, and take current promotions, condition, shipping costs, and care into account.

Why do second-hand clothes from the same brand have different prices?

Differences may be due to the material, collection, condition, style, popularity, and the seller’s costs. The logo alone doesn’t determine an item’s value.

Is it worth buying second-hand premium clothing?

Yes, if they meet your needs, are in good condition, and are reasonably priced. However, a more expensive product isn’t necessarily better. Always check the material, construction, and any damage.

Is it worth buying several items in one parcel?

It can reduce the shipping cost per item. However, it’s not worth buying extra products you don’t need just to get a discount or qualify for free shipping.

How can you tell if a second-hand item is worth the price?

Assess the condition, material, measurements, how often you’ll wear it, additional costs, and prices for comparable styles. A real bargain isn’t just a low price, but also good usability.

10. Summary – are second-hand branded clothes worth buying?

Branded second-hand clothes can be a great value, but the price alone doesn’t prove you’ve found a good deal. You can find second-hand dresses, sweaters, and jeans from well-known brands for a few dozen złoty, but the value of a purchase also depends on condition, material, fit, and how often you’ll wear the item.

Rather than focusing only on the brand name, check the specific item. Compare the total costs, pay attention to quality, and don’t be afraid to pass up an apparent bargain.

A good second-hand store shouldn’t promise that every item of clothing will be the best investment. It should give you the information you need to make your own choice.

If you’re looking for interesting second-hand clothes, check out the latest arrivals at Bloomlo. You might find something there that you’ll wear much longer than you initially planned.
